The Storm

open me
a dark and violent sea
foaming crests caught
rolling in a flash of light
arcing from crown to heart
balancing poised
eyes closed to see
wave patterns
breathing through fear
when plunging down
and crashing through
split sideways by
broadside leviathan
balancing poised between
heaven and darkest deep
light-blinded overgiving
stripping my vitality
playing angel until
collapsing from exhaustion
then swinging dark
in pity-fueled debauchery
rotting sweet decay
nadir of self-care
and pulling back again
storm once more sensed
rising above while within
hurry to the rigging
quick to the work
perpetual survival
