impressed with impulse
to seek the fragile
you kneel and cup a crumbling
soul to your bosom
and mourn the falling pieces a
tumbling rain syncopating your
heart breathless redemption
you, too, keep on falling
spinning backwards and off-balance
echoing shouts pursue you
with vertiginous glee you see
this is who you are
this is who you are
in every moment’s snapshot
loathing your own reactions and desires
push and push bars of screeching
merry-go-round a
holographic carousel of
mirrors canted to self-judgement
self-doubt folds your thoughts
into abusive origami
that continually returns to
preordained center until someday perhaps
you see through the illusion
of self-doubt
