Humility

trying to stand tall
a wave in the sea
pride can’t hold water
so see we are one
and all part of the same
let me not swell and keep
selfishly all parts of me
generosity gives freely but
only if by submission
one releases attachment
to the gift, untying strings
the manner of reception,
but most importantly
take the courage to exchange
between us in trust
the high and low in all honesty
bolstered by boundaries
to close borders to those
who only give decrepit and cruel
undermining views,
those who are still trying to stand tall
and fret when the flow
raises you high
