Vanity Graffito

vanity my graffito
scrawl upon scene
to treat with me my gaze
all that I render
invisible all that is lost
before these expectations
water flows and froths
elusive to my clutch
I mean to see you but
I see my imagination
I mean to listen and witness
but my thoughts wander
like clouds reflected
in the surface of water
I look at you and see me
I strain when I should flow
and burst forth ill-timed
spraying deluge delusions
gravity carries this charge
to the basin of self-regard
